He made it to the top 10 on the computer, played Davis Cup, had a lot of

COMMENTS: I saw him play at the Lipton, a few months before he made it

how he hit his groundstrokes. While watching the French, I slowed the
VCR down and saw that he hit both the backhand and forehand with the
same side of the racquet.

COMMENTS: For some reason and perhaps the goes with other tennis fans,
I can not separate this guy from Harold Solomon. Back in the early to
mid 80's, there were a lot of Dibbs and Solomons on the tour,
(Kent Carlson comes to mind) but now the power game, low trajectory
with tons of spin is the rule.

COMMENTS: This guy has the potential to get hot and beat a lot of players or even
win a couple of grand slams, but his biggest weakness is that he is at least
two notches lower when he has to hit his shots on the run, not enough spin
to get them back in. A very dangerous and talented player.

between a baseliner and a serve and volleyer. He has great groundstokes,
but not good enough to consistently beat people from the back, he has
great serve and volleys, but not good enough to consistently beat people
by attacking. But good enough to win close to $6 million.

"you are only as good as your second serve", did not have Gilbert in mind.
His most famous tactic was to work the ball around, nice and deep, and
come in on a weird looking, chip\slice\flat forehand down the line.

COMMENTS: "Big foot", you can hear run a mile away, but his backhand
is superb, one of the best two-handed backhands of all-time. For a big
guy, his serve should be harder. He's knocked on the grand slam door many
times. He had a very nice run at the 1999 US Open, a finalist who took Andre
to the limit.

COMMENTS:Probably one of the best doubles players in the open era, and
definitely one of the most successful. Red headed lefty, looks like Rod Laver, one half of the
great doubles team of Woodforde and (Todd) Woodbridge. For a guy who's
never made it to a grand slam or a Masters final, $5 million is a lot of
money.
