1) Hire a very credible PR firm 2) Promote the best aspect of the game 3) Combine the ATP, ITF and WTA tours 4)Have 4 seperate seasons with each one being crowned by one of the grand slams, exp. Winter season ends with the Aussi, the spring season ends with Wimbledon, the summer season ends with the French and the fall with the US Open 5) Tennis channel in the US 6) Davis Cup every 4 years 7) Allow the crowd to participate, none of the Shhh attitude 8)Create rivalries by having the top players play each other more often 9) No under the table appearnce fees 10)No bathroom breaks in the 1st set
Men: Jimmy Connors Women: That's a tough one, Monica Seles
Just perfect but not organized properly
French Open: It takes a real tennis player to win this event. Wimbledon: It takes a big boring serve and volley soecialist to win it.

1) More tennis. It's barely advertised at all and shown very little on t.v. 2) More information on players both big names and up and comers 3) Let the crowds have their say. There's nothing like crowd shouting to make you go. 4) Tennis Channel!!! There's more but it'll be too long.
Men) Sampras.
Women) Martina Navratilova (Then) Monica Seles (Now)
For men way to many. Every week there's like three or four.
For women, Just right. Maybe one or two too much.
The only thing is tennis hardly ever televised so you can never tell!!
My fav has got to be the US Open. Crowds are fantastic and so is the atmosphere. Electruic!!
The Aussie Open. I hear the people are real nice but I don't SEE enough of it to know.

Well, John, I think we need to lighten up the rules a little bit. I frankly miss the personalities of Connors and MacEnroe. My girlfriend won't even watch a match with me anymore. She says the players are not as interesting. I explained to her that the rules of changed since the early eighties, when a player could act up on the court and yell obsenities. Players can't get away with anything anymore. Why you can't even allow your hat to blow off your head during a point without getting a warning. I miss Nastase going up in the stands and the chair empire begging him to come down and play, or Connors shaking his finger at MacEnroe, or Lendl so uptight and angry at Mac you could cut the tension with a knife. Well, I guess that's me.
Sampras or Rafter. Steffi or Hingis.
I frankly do not know what is going on in the first rounds of the tournaments not a part of the Super 9. I mean, I can get the imformation on the internet but until we get into a Super 9 or a Slam, early rounds and qualifiers are a mystery. Also, look what happen at Scotsdale with Jan-Michael final. Here is an up and coming player in an ATP final and Fox Sports goes to soccor with the score 3-3 in the third set. How important does Fox Sports think winning Scotsdale is. We would be better off having a tennis channel going 24 hours a day. At least we could get the imformation when we needed it. I didn't know the result of Jan-Michael match until 7:30 Eastern time that night. If we are going to have all these tournaments then lets cover them for God's sake.
My favorite is the US OPen. The coverage is could until the network comes on. USA does a great job. I hang around the tv all day if I don't go. US Open is fun to go to also. My least favorite other than the small wons we never know about, is the Austrilian OPen. Coverage is awful and what are we doing with another hardcourt slam. The Austrilian OPen should be indoor. And don't tell it is kind of indoor because they can shut the roof on center court when it rains. MacEnroe is right. There should be an indoor Slam. Thanks John, for letting vent my frustrations. I am putting the novel The Prodigy on the internet soon. It has been rewritten and hopefully it well be even a better read. Richard Kremer

Fewer tournaments so the top players would compete against each other more often. Require the top players to play a minimum number of doubles events each year. Offer equal prize money to the women in Grand Slam events, its more exciting than men's tennis these days. Reduce men's finals to 2 of 3 sets. Combine Davis/Fed cup into one team event.
Jimmy Connors and Billie Jean King. They were bulldogs.
Too many in mens tennis.
Favorite--Wimbledon for the coverage on HBO, and the tradition of the sport.
Least fav--US Open. Bad coverage and commentary by Tracy "That was just huge!" Austin. Bring Virginia Wade into the booth or hire Carillo and give McEnroe a pacifier.

I would change the way tennis is being scored. Instead of having games like we do now I would have tie breakers for each game. This I believe would make serving and being more aggressive with each point more challenging to the players. The sets would probably last longer but the versatility of each player would be tested more.

I would have the Australian Open in Sydney because I live only 2 hours away where as Melbourne is 10 hours away. I would be in all the grand slams and would win them.
John MacEnroe because I would hit shots down the line and make him run so he gaets pissed off and gives up.
There are to little grand slams. More grand slams means more people who want to see the tennis at that level will see it without waiting for ages for the next one.

Mostly loosen up the frustration ban, and let the players vent their anger. It lets them concentrate more on their game. If they break their racquet, they're paying for it, so let them. and let them curse and moan about their bad game. And also the umpire is sometimes biased, if a player is baned from saying anything, then there is a bigger opertunity to cheat
nobody, none would care.
too little, Tennis is a true and direct competition sport, and should be played for most of the year.
Fav: Canadian open, The players seem to be less uptight in Canada then anywhere else, and besides, blue mat courts adds a cool twist.Along with amazing coverage

Stop women tennis players getting equal pay for less work (ie US Open). I would also cut down the amount of tournaments in the ATP calendar year.
Men: Ivan Lendl. Because in his prime (September 1985-December 1987) he was unstoppable. Lendl also has an amazing never say die attitude. The most famous showing of this was his 1984 French Open triumph over John McEnroe.
Women: Steffi Graf. Because in her prime she was simply the best.
There are way too many tournaments on the calendar.
Favourite Tournament: US Open is my favourite tournament even though I am from the UK.
Wimbledon would have been my favourite if Ivan Lendl had won there just once. I was really pissed off every year that he failed to win Wimbledon. In 1989, when he lost to Boris Becker because a rain delay broke his momentum I was in tears. Well, at least my favourite tennis player, Goran Ivanisevic has won there now.
Worst Tournament: French Open is my least favourite tournament because I fall asleep after 10 minutes watching clay court tennis.

Pat Rafter defeated himself in the Wimbledon 2001 final. He already had his "disappointment speech" prepared before he went on centre court. He was coached by Roche who is a "runner up" at Wimbledon but never the winner. He needs to have access to the killer instinct of people like John Newcombe. I would like Rafter to take a break then learn Akido from a master before coming back to Wimbledon next year. NO MORE MR NICE GUY!

Make all the players wear those giant mascot outfits, that would certainly slow the pace of the mens game down and make it more of a spectacle.
From the men it would have to be Borg, someone who can keep call under high pressure situations. From the women Leyton Hewitt, whoever's killing me would find him so irritating they'll probably go away
The tournaments there are on the calendar are too unorganised. The decent players go to whatever they chose and those with graveyard rankings scurry to all of them wasting everyone's time.
Speaking as a former selector of Davis cup Tennis, I'd better keep my opinions on that host of corruption to myself. However, the grandeur of Wimbledon cannot be bettered and the US crowd who treat a match like a circus cannot be worsened.

I would enforce strict rules of sportsmanlike conduct, and only allow behavior like Arthur Ashe. I would liberalize and amend the rules which allow participation in the national tournaments.
Pete Sampras, because he has a strong game - serve and is a good athlete and a wonderful inspiration to young people interested in tennis. Venus/Serena Williams because the Williams' sisters represent what is good about tennis and they vhave inspired thousands of people to play the game which I love. They are superb athletes, generous and kind hearted yound ladies who frankly give the sport a good reputation. They are strong, courgeous and beautiful as well.
There should be more professional tournaments, and more than two in Washington DC. I want to see more women's tournament in Washington DC.

I think its the mens game that really needs the changes. Even the clay court baseliners are now relying on the powergame to win. Possibly get rid of the second serve but look at the court surfaces and equipment as opposed to messing about with the rules too much. As for the womens game, there is much more strength in depth now than before when it was dominated by Graf and Seles. If they want the same prize money as the men though I think that they should play best of 5 sets in slams.
Andre Agassi because he is such a fighter and Venus Williams (cant really stand the family but this is life and death here!).
I think the players do need a closed season even for a month or so to allow recovery from injuries. End of season championships finish and then they are straight to Australia. The slams could be better spaced too.
Like Wimbledon because of its class and tradition. It has to be experienced!
I suppose the US Open is my least favourite though they do seem to have improved it recently.

Combine the ATP, ITF and WTA tours. We really need to combine them *jumps up and down with impatience* That'd be fun. talking about combining..this might sound stupid but how about mixed singles? *grin* honestly...we have mixed doubles. Maybe the male and female population have a big difference, I know that but seeing as the tennis is getting more and more well known..would it hurt? or are you going to come out sexist on this thought... I wish people would stop fussing over the players reaction on the outcome of the game. The reactions are only human-people ought not to scream that Hingis frowned because she lost a game. Some people stay neutral..most don't. Staying neutral isn't always the right way to handle a game...right? And to have it all year around with split seasons might be really good. So depending on the courts you could have the US open during one season and the Aussie one the next season and etc..because I get bored when nobody is hitting the ball. *shrug* the clapping thing..it gets on my nerves. It's true that you might just lose your concentration if someone behind you cheers for you but what are we watching? two tennis players playing a SPORT or an orchestra? If everyone lightens up a little there'll be more of a challenge for the players don't you think? We need someone to promote the game properly..I don't like the hankey panky going on right now *frown*
I can't choose yet. I'm sure I'll come across someone who I won't be able to win at all easily but when I DO find them I'm going to make sure I win by practicing harder. And then when I get good enough I want to play someone like Agassi or Sampras or Hingis etc etc...just because I think it'd be worth it whether I die or not :) Besides, what's the point in playing with someone you know you're going to definately win easily and then living to die the next day after playing someone you're likely to lose against on the first try?
There can never be too many *smile* but I don't like the fact that everyone gets so into the professional tournaments. I know that seeing as the best attend these matches but....bah..flashes stuff never got my attention much.
I don't have a least fav..everyone needs to brush up something or rather and they have their own 'up' points. But my fav would have to be the Wimbledon ones..however much they say it's boring and annoying that's them and I'm me. That's the game I've been watching even more I held my racket and that's the one I've been so engrossed in all this time. oh...but I wish they'd show the Aussie open a little more...hmm -_-;;

I wouldn't change it. Tennis is a great game already!!! Why are you people trying to change it??? The popularity is already going up without you changing the rule, etc... Probably the only things I would change would be that women would get equal prize money, and they would change over to the champpions race. Stop trying to change!!! Change is not always the best thing!!!
If I had to pick two players to play for my life, I would pick........ 1. Lindsey Davenport She is a wonderful player and wins so often. She is very consistant. I would Absolutley choose her to play for my life. 2. Andre Agassi Andre is one of the greatest players ever. Why not pick him. Also I would not pick Sampras, because I just don't like him. :)
For the fans, there are not enough tournaments (the more you can see of Patrick Rafter the better!!! :) But, for the players I think that there are too many. I don't think we should take away any tournaments, but I think the players should just choose the important ones to play, and not work too hard!!!
I have only been to one tournament (the one in Cincy, we go to every year). I love that tournament!!! It is great. But I would have to pick the Australian and US Opens. They are just so much fun.

I wouldn't allow players like Martina Hingis to make strange comments about other players. I would insist on having three sets win in the finals on Grand Slam tours and on Masters like it was. And because of that I would insist on equal prizes for male and female, they (woman) would have to show just as much as man do even though female tennis is more interesting:
For my life I would play a week player so that I would stand a chance to win, oterwise I would prefer playing against Steffi Graf, Amelie Mauresmo, Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras and Tommy Haas because I think I could learn a lot from them.
I think there are just about enough

Female: Jana Novotna. Her backhand slice is a beauty in itself. Score doesn't matter!
Too much tournaments. I wonder if those pros sometimes feel like hitting machines. Injury and fatigue lower quality of play and shortern players' career.
Favorite: Wimbledon, because players and audience both show up with a serious attitude.
Least favorite: US Open. It's a celebrity show.

I'd take some measure to limit the growing speed of the game, which has left the show limping behind! First of all, I would do away with the second serve. If big servers think they can win a match by means of a few lucky tie-breakers let them take their chances, starting with their serve. Honestly, a match between two big servers on a fast court, especially at Wimbledon, is quite dull. So as not to put the serve&volley players at a huge disadvantage, I would speed up the game on slow courts, by using heavier and low bouncing balls. A balance must be reached anyway, so that the best players in the world should be able to win on all surfaces ! This would make both the matches and the tournaments much more interesting ! Let us not be so conservative about this game anylonger !
Bjorn Borg, because I'd nickname him "Old Surehand". This is the kind of player on whose ambition and determination to win you can rely indeed. Martina Navratilova - because she played like a man, not exactly like the one I mentioned above, but with utmost aggression and determination !
There shouldn't be two (or several even !)professional tournaments underway at the same time ! All the great players should get together at all the events. If they choose not to appear before a certain audience in a certain country it's their problem - they lose precious points. Therefore, I think there's an inflation of ATP tournaments.
My favourite professional and tournament are Pete Sampras and Wimbledon. Sampras - because he is one of the most serious players I have ever seen and, most of all, because he has brilliant all-round game! My favourite tournament is Wimbledon, because I've been there! Myleast favourite ones are the fat "women" who wish to earn as much as men so and the Romanian Open Tennis tournament in Bucharest. In a country which had a great player like Ilie Nastase and where you can find so many tennis lovers it's a shame to see the stands almost empty at an ATP tournament that happens to be organised by Ion Tiriac himself.

Not much. However, I would promote and encourage tennis players to participate in doubles. I think it's exciting and anyone who plays it can tell you that it takes a lot of skill, teamwork, and strategy to participate in it. If it was promoted more, maybe more people would watch it.
male: agassi -he's a clutch player, and he never gives up, especially if there's high stakes involved. (Did anyone watch his match vs. Todd Martin at Wimbeldon?) female: B.J. King -she owns tennis
too little
favorite: wimbeldon -yes, the surface is easier, but I like the tradition and atmosphere of it. least: Australian -it's not promoted as much, so I'm not as familiar with it.

Only one rule I would change would have to be the "let" on a serve. The palyers need to play it like a shot, just like in the middle of a point. Hey, the net is part of the game, if you can use it, use it!
Too hard of a question to answer, but I would pick the man that is the best there ever was, Pete. when his back is in shape and working order, you can't beat him(usually) I saw him win at Wimbleton with only 7 unforced errors in the match, can you say "damn"!
The amount on the circuit right now is fine. It is spaced out enough that when it comes(a grand slam) it is as built up as it is suppose to be, people won't just pass it up!
Favorite is Wimbleton by far just because it's Wimbleton, I really don't know why?
And i really like all of the others too.

Ban Grunting, Encourage more all out play, Make a limit to raquet size, and make minor tournament more well known.
I would pick Andre Agassi because I know he would fight ot the end. And Serrena Williums Because SHE CAN'T BE BEAT!!!
There's enough, I just think they should be BIGGER!
I like all the minor tournaments because that's were it all starts.

I would like something like the world league to start again. I think if we had hometown teams to get behind maybe tennis would be watched more.
Andre Agassi because right now he is the most consistent. Lindsay Davenport for the same reason.
To little on TV. There is enough being played, you just can't see it. The TU doesn't cover tennis much at all. To get college is impossible.
My favorite is the US Open, just because of the excitement There are some that must be bad but since I can't see them I don't know which one is the worse.

1. Only one serve. Players like Ivanesevic and Sampras have made tennis too boring, especially at Wimbledon, and I'd love to see how it would alter the rankings. 2. Get rid of the let, it would make it more interesting. 3. Introduce sudden death at duece, to eliminate the games that sometimes can laugh ten or fifteen minutes
The present players I'd pick Agassi, as he never gives up, not like he used to, and Lindsay Davenport, because she hits the ball so hard and makes it just about impossible for the others.
I'd say about the right amount. But I'd like to see more on t.v. especially in Australia.
I like the French open because you get to see rallies, and see the players fight for every point. And the worst ould be Wimbledon, because you don,t get to see rallies anymore, it's always the player with the biggest serve who wins

Nothing, I think that it is great the way it is. Tennis has been reletivly the same for ages. I think that a change in the rules would be a change in the game.
Pete Sampras He's a great player that doesn't choke on crucial points, and I think that every point in that match is crucial. I mean hey it's my life you're talking about.
Chris Evert She won't lose
There are too much. The player are getting injured left and right.
My favorite tournement would be the U.S. Open because the courts are so fast and the points are exciting as can be.
My least favorite would be the Austarlian because I can't watch it. I'm in school when it comes on T.V. and me being the lazy bum that I am I won't tape it.

I'd leave the women's game along, but I'd try to find some way to keep the men from serving at 140. That's BORING. Make sure the ranking system really reflects who's the best player and not have someone move up the week they lose in the first round. Actually, if everyone returned like Agassi, then the serving wouldn't matter, unfortunately, too many men can't return the stuff many guys send over the net. BORING. Also, I'd find a way to reverse time and stop Monica Seles from being stabbed so she would be regarded as the best player ever since she was well on her way.
Of the men playing today, it would be Pete Sampras since at his best he's the only guy who can beat Agassi at his best. Of the women, Martina Hingis. She may not be quite as powerful as some of the other women, but she has enough, and she has the all around game and an unbelievable mind. If I could go back in time, I'd take John McEnroe since I honestly think that at his best he was the greatest along with Ivan Lendle. I would love to be able to have Monica Seles play - in her prime - since she was on her way to being the best ever. No one has ever had the same combination of power, angles, and mental toughness. She could return better than anyone, her passing shots were the best, and she NEVER gave up, like in her first French open win.
I think it could be cut down a little, but not too much, you need to have enough tournaments to let people play enough to be ranked but still be able to take a few weeks off here and there.
My favorite is the US OPEN since it's on hardcourts and it's usually not as killer hot at the Australian Open. My least favorite has always been Wimbeldon. The women are alright to watch, but the men's matches - unless it was Conners, Agassi, or Chang on one side, were beyond boring. I tend to not like matches where the most shots you see is 3.

I should make the rule change which would mean 3 main advantages compared to the present situation:
Suggestion for changing the rules of tennis (the model of 3 in a nutshell):
The dividing line between the service courts is abolished and the entire area will be divided into three equally large service courts - with responding marks on the baseline. In singles play the service will be executed from between the marks, in doubles from between the sideline and the nearest mark - to the service court exactly opposite the server.
Consider the difference this would make: diminishing quantity of aces and in general serving would become more difficult, the return angle would be smaller (returning would become more difficult, too); compared to the present situation the ball would be in play longer, thus resulting in greater enjoyability for the spectator, which, of course, is the crux of the matter. The unearned advantage of the left-handers would also be removed. Third but not least the rhythm of the game would become much faster, for too much time is currently being spent as the players move from one service court to another. Besides, it is obvious that the first service per cent would increase remarkably because to get into the second service would be no doubt of great advantage to the returner.
There are more benefits of the model of 3 (3 service courts, each of them 3 yd., 3 main benefits) at:

A. Corretja and ? . I am not able to tell reasons.
Suitably.
French Open. The biggest clay tournament. The least: some little hard court tournament in U.S.

Well I think if women would like equal pay.Than they should play the same 3out of 5 sets.If they do that, than I'm with them all the way for equal pay...(the grandslam)
Pete S. Hey his game speaks for himself. Serena W.When I was in NY.2yrs ago, just 2 days before the us-open.Some co-works and I walked right into S.and V. Williams. We all were looking around. When I walk into Serena her and her sister just laugh and kept on walking, and said to my co-works.V.W.will be #1 and her sister will be #2. Well now, I think Serena can and will be #1 in the world. SHE GOT GAME!!!
I,m not sure, but it should be more on T.V.
My favorite is the US Open It's in the U.S. and I had a chance to go to watch. So the next time I will go. The least is the French, till this yr.The U.S. don't do to well, at the French.
