It's My Point -
What's Yours? (Updated daily M-F)

October 1, 2001 - They're alive and breathing!

It was a week of old horses regaining their gallop of glory days.
Felix Mantilla and Marcello Rios were both winners of Sicily and Hong Kong respectively.
And even Magdalena Maleeva played her way into a finals of a tournament, but went down easily to Kim Clijsters. A good showing just the same for the player who was once touted as the next champion and the best of the Malleva sisters.

Question: Is Marcelo Rios an example of another athlete getting away with breaking the law? He allegedly assaulted a police officer, and was fined by the ATP for breaking company property. Is it all forgotten?

I'm a fan of Marcelo, I hope he gets back on form and becomes a true grand slam contender.

I know we need to stay together, our country is under major stress, our economy is plummeting, all of us want to do something. Celebrities are lending their talents to raise money for the relief fund, but something's wrong with singing "We are family" (a disco song) as a tribute. John McEnroe and his wife Patti Smythe were among the celebrities belting out the Sister Sledge song of the 70's.

What's your point?
