LEAGUE RULES FOR DOUBLES LADDER

Doubles Ladder Rules

How much does it cost

$40 per person and $20 for each additional team that you join. exp. if you are part of one doubles combo, you both pay $40. If you join up with another partner and form another combo, your entry fee would then be $20. Your new partner’s entry fee would either be $20 if he is part of another combo, or $40 if its his first team.

How long does this cover

One year

What if I join in the middle of the year

It will end 12 months from the date that you started.

When does it start:

It does when your 12 month membership is over

Are there champions crowned during the year

4 times a year each division will have a champion

When are the champions crowned

At the end of each quarter, winter ( end of march)  spring (end of june) summer ( end of September) fall ( end of December

How will I know who the champion is

The team with the most points in the respective quarter as listed in the quarterly standings.

Will my matches carryover from one season to another

No only the matches played within the timeframe of the quarter will count towards your quarterly points

What is the criteria for the quarterly standings

The team with the most points is the winner, which means the more you play, the more your chances at being champion. It favors participation over non-participation. Exp. if your record is 3-0 with 60 points and my record is 3-5 75 with 75 points, I win, I have more points.

When will the standings be updated

The moment you enter and submit your score both the regular and quarterly standings will be updated.

What do the quarterly champions win

The winning team will win prizes like, shoes, bags, clothing etc., the team with the most cumulative points for the year in their division will receive the champion's trophy at the end of the year.

When can a team join

At any time

How many matches can a team play

Unlimited! It depends on how many teams there are in your division, the more teams, the more you can challenge other teams and the more other teams can challenge you

What constitutes a team

You and your partner makes up one team

What if I don’t have a partner

Sign-up anyway, we will give you a list of players to contact and join up with

Do I have to play with a player of the same rating

No, anyone can play together, regardless of rating, your combined rating will determine your division

How many teams can I belong to

You can belong to as many team as you want

How many partners can I have

As many as you can find who's willing to play with you

How many divisions can I play on

As many as you want, as long as your team (combined) rating does not exceed your respective division

How many categories are available

3, Men’s doubles, Women’s doubles, Mixed doubles

How many divisions are there

6 Divisions: 6.0 & under, 7.0 & under, 8.0 & under, 9.0 & under, 10.0 & under, 11.0 & over. Exp. if you are 3.0 and your partner’s 4.0, your team would play in the 7.0 & under, or if you are 3.5 and your partner’s 5.0, your team would play in the 9.0 & under

How do I know who to play

You can challenge any team who are 8 spots ahead of you, exp. if you are number 10, you can issue a challenge to the 9 all the way up to the number 2 team. You accumulate points according the scoring system listed below.

Can I challenge a team outside of my division:

Yes you can challenge a team who's in the division directly above yours as long as the team is within 8 spots from you exp. if you are number 4 in the 7.0 & under division, you can challenge the top 3 teams in your respective division plus the bottom 5 of the 8.0 & under division.

How do I know who to play at the beginning when the ladder has not been established

Since no one would have yet acquired any points, all teams who have not yet played can challenge just pick a team that you want to play and challenge them, as more matches are played, the ladder will begin to form

How many times can I challenge a team

You can only challenge a team that’s ahead of you three times in one calendar year.

How many points do I get for challenging a team

You get 5 points

How many points does the team being challenged get

The team who’s being challenged gets 5 points for accepting the challenge

How many points does the winning team get

The winning team gets 15 points for the win

What’s the maximum number of points I can get for playing a match

20 points, 5 for either challenging or accepting a challenge and 15 points for winning the match

Must a team accept the challenge

Yes

How long does a team have to accept the challenge

2 weeks

What if a team accepts the challenge and does not show up

The challenging team would win by a 6-0.6-0 score and get 20 points

How is a challenge issued

Which team gets to decide the location and surface

The team who issues the challenge -

Who provides the balls

Both teams are to show up with a new can of balls, the winning team goes home with the un-open can of balls, the losing team goes home with the balls that were used to play the match

Who reports the result of the match

Both teams must call in the results no later than 24 hours of the match being played, scores reported at a later date may not get registered and may also cause confusion with the ladder ranking. To insure full credit for your matches played, please report the score ASAP

How do we know who’s in the ladder

There will be a running team ladder standing posted on the 1stserve website, the contact information, will be sent via e-mail

What if I’m not online

We will fax the team ladder standing and contact information weekly
